U.S. Producer Price Index (PPI)
U.S. final-demand PPI release dates, verified producer-price readings and explanations of monthly and annual changes.
What it measures
The Producer Price Index measures changes in selling prices received by domestic producers. The final-demand measure covers output sold for personal consumption, capital investment, government purchases and export. It is different from the prices households pay in CPI.
Read it correctly
The readings below use final-demand PPI. Annual changes are unadjusted; monthly changes are seasonally adjusted. PPI releases can revise earlier figures. A rise in producer prices does not translate mechanically into the same increase in consumer prices.
